Cars and Humans

One gallon of gasoline is 128 ounces. One gallon of gasoline 17-44 miles per gallon typically -- the last I heard -- which means (going with, say, 32 mpg) you will need 4 ounces of gas per mile as 4 times 32 is 128.

If you walked one mile, at 5 miles per hour, you would be walking about 12 minutes. Walking can burn 250 - 300 calories per hour if done briskly, 5 mph is a slightly brisk gait, in twelve minutes you will burn 50 to sixty calories, possibly, by walking this one mile.

When comparing these two sources of transversement (Christmas reminds me of transversing) , and if you replace the 4 ounces of gasoline with something suitable for people such as, milk, juice, cola, soup, candy or whole fruit, is there a similarity?

Milk skimmed: 80 calories per 8 oz., 10 calories per oz., |40 calories per 4 oz.
Applesauce: 1/2 cup has |60 calories
Mixed Vegetables with corn or peas have |40 calories per 4 oz.
Apples: 4 oz. have |60 calories
Fruit Cocktail has |60 calories per 4 oz.
Plain non-fat yogurt has |52 calories per 4 oz.
Cola: 4 oz. have |45 calories
Wine: 4 oz. have |75 calories, 3 oz. have 60
Wine Cooler: 4 oz. have |50 calories

1 oz of very lean pork, chicken, fish or beef is 35 calories so 1 1/2 oz is |52 calories
6- 10 nuts or 1 TB reduced fat margarine or salad dressing is |45 calories
2 TB coconut is |45 calories

I have always been curious how calories stacked up to gasoline.

8th Month Anniversary at Christmas

When Will There Be 7 Billion On Earth?

Population since Creation.
United States Census Site.

I am going to answer my own question, until someone comes up with a better idea.

According to this world clock/statistics counter, about one million a month means there should be 7 billion people living on earth in 9 years or less.

Warm-up in the Wintertime

In Western Kentucky in 2009 we had the most horrific ice storm since I was a four year old in the sixties. The power was out from 5 to 19 days, 13 days at my house and my luxury during it all was my hot water heater (it's gas). It warmed up the whole room while I was in the shower even though my thermostat was at fifty-four degrees with only a fireplace and 16 degrees in Fahrenheit outside.

PLaying Cards are Interesting

History of Bicycle Cards
Not only do they come in classic rectangular decks with paisley type backs, they come in shapes, create-your-own images, celebrity prints, cartoon characters and more. Fun to play and fun to collect.

Some of the games you play with cards are almost addictive, no wonder you get to brush with dragons, princes, poker chips, etc.

I've never played Rummy or 'Gin Rummy' or 'Egyptian War.'
I did not know you could play Canasta with just two people, that sounds fun since it's so hard to get a group together much of the time.

Betrayal is here.

Check the numbers.

Gram Counters

Ridiculous that you'll get this small--but you'll get small.

In reference to the earlier post, 50 grams might not be too many.

Ketonic Strategies

cookingwithmykid.com

Testing for Ketones with a Ketone strip gives you encouragement for managing weight excesses and helps you lose. When you can buy these for around $4-$6 and keep yourself in gear with the purple hues and eat dessert or vegetable spaghetti you do alright.

Defending a castle

Defending a castle
One point here is the round factor in the towers design--round is harder to attack successfully.

EXcerpt:
"Another obvious way to stop an advance on your castle, was to build a moat around it. Though these may appear a robust form of defence, they could also give an enemy a very easy passage to the castle's walls as all they had to do was to cross the moat at its weakest point - though this would be done with the defenders attacking the invaders!"
